I wasn’t able to stop that service, as all the options on it were greyed out.

However, doing the registry check got rid of the watermark just fine. This of course does not license Windows 10, it only hides that water mark. You still won’t be able to personalize your computer.

I’m using Windows 10 on a mini-pc that serves as my media player, and all I use it for is watching full-screen HD video in Kodi, so I don’t care about the personalization as I don’t ever use the actual Windows operating system anyway (besides it being in the back ground while Kodi is running of course).

I upgraded some hardware on that mini-pc media player and suddenly found myself with an unlicensed Windows 10. The watermark was overlaying all my video’s, making it rather annoying.

Rather than having to shell out a bunch of money to buy yet another Windows license for a machine I barely use, this registry trick did the…trick. 🙂

I tried this and it works for a few hours, but after that the watermark appears again, but only after restart. After the computer has been shut down and turned back on it displays the watermark right away. I’ve done everything in the instructions so I’m not sure what’s going on. Help?

This worked PERFECTLY for me, AFTER my PC updated to the Creators Update
I thnk that doing this needs to register with the OS (like in an update) before it can work. Hope this helps! 🙂

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Wasn’t able to use the setting, but doing the regedit exactly as described wroked perfectly after restart!

You can VERY easily bypass the customization limits so no worries there for me! Just the dang watermark was the problem. Thank you so much.
